Today we began a writing assignment. A call to action letter. We have been doing a great deal of reading around current and past First Nations issues. Now we are writing a letter to someone who you think needs to know about these issues. Who that is, is up to you. A politician? a celebrity? a family member? You are going to tell them about what you have learned, and are still learning, and what they can do about it - a call to action.
This is due next Monday.
Here is what I'll be looking for:

Thinking -What you say
- persuasive ideas
- Are your ideas explained and supported with evidence?
- Is there a call to action for your reader?
Communication - How you say it
- word choice
- spelling
Knowledge - What you write
-Conventions of a formal letter
- Salutation/closing
         -body paragraph(s)
Application - The way you connect it
- Makes connections to other ideas that help your audience relate to the argument
- Is highly persuasive
