Success Criteria:

  • I have well thought out topic sentences for each paragraph that outline the main point of the paragraph
  •  In each body paragraph, I have given direct evidence from the book to support my ideas
  • I have used feedback from both my friends and the teacher to improve the content and clarity of my essay
  • I have followed the editing checklist before handing in my final draft

Art

What a week ahead! Please plan out your time wisely. Maybe sketch out a schedule for the next few days to make sure nothing gets left behind.
Something like this:

  • Saturday - I have dance all day -  no time for school work

Math
Final assessment of Fractions. Decimals and Percents were returned today.

This weekend your challenge is to create a short game of chance. Not a board game - more like a carnival game.
You could use dice, cards, spinners,- or something else of your choice and creativity.
On Monday, I'll be collecting the instructions for your game and a full explanation of the theoretical probability and risk involved, using the vocabulary we have been working on.

Literacy
WHW project - presentations next week. Practice, Practice, Practice!
I have checked in with each of you and you have committed to a timeline that will get you prepared for your presentation. Please stick to your plan and timeline. Don't forget the success criteria! Make sure you are on track.

Tell your family about our little homework wager. Double homework for the month!!!

We learned the game SKUNK today.
Use the chart on the back of your handout to figure out the probability of rolling doubles.
Please teach someone at home how to play. Use the vocabulary we have been working with.

Literacy
WHW Projects. - I will check in with you tomorrow to make sure you are on track to present next week. Reminder! Your oral presentation is NOT you reading your media text out loud to us. You need to expand on your media text. Teach us.

Literacy
WHW project. You now know when you will present next week. I will check in with you on Thursday to make sure you are on track. Please don't leave this until the last minute as you need to have your oral presentation well rehearsed. Your oral presentation should not be you simply reading your media text. You should be expanding on your media text in your oral presentation.

Orbiting Jupiter Essay
We have now sketched out our class essay. Please refer to the class essay document as you begin your own essay. You essay is not on pathetic fallacy, it is on the theme that you tracked as we read the book.

History
read pages 70-72 during reading and after reading #1 only

Music
Sing! Sing! Sing! will be presented next Wednesday November 30th.
Again, make sure you are well rehearsed.

Orbiting Jupiter
What a breathtaking ending.
Please talk about what we read with your families tonight.
Casting assignment: If we were to make a movie for Orbiting Jupiter who would you cast in the roles of Joseph, Jack, Mr. Brook, and Mr. and Mrs. Hurd. Please write out your choices with an explanation as to why you would choose that actor based on what you know about these characters. This is due tomorrow.

Tomorrow is our blacklight theatre debut! Please remember to wear black (or very dark blue/ dark brown/ dark grey) from head to toe. I am really looking forward to "wow"ing the school. The assembly will take place after recess (10:45) if there are any parents who would like to come.

Orbiting Jupiter - Your online assessment worksheet is due tomorrow. Please choose your three best online discussion contributions, paste them into your personal document and then fill in the self evaluation according to the rubric on the document.

Remembrance Day
As you may know, our class will be presenting a black light theatre piece for the school remembrance day assembly. In order for blacklight to be effective, the performers must be dressed in black clothing from head to toe. I am asking that each and every member of our class wear all black clothing (no logos, no writing) this Friday. Many thanks, in advance, for your cooperation.
